Yes, we all have them...the questions we just don't know who to ask. While we don't profess to know the answers of the universe, we do know about bikes. If you have a specific question that isn't covered here, please don't hesitate in contacting us.

Q. How do I remove scratches in my clear coat?

A. Use SCRATCH OUT Custom Glaze. Apply a small amount to a clean detail cloth and rub with medium pressure, applying liquid when necessary to keep area wet while rubbing. Let dry and buff. Repeat until scratch is gone.

Q. How can I remove the blue and yellow from my exhaust pipes?

A. Try using BLUE B-GONE. Apply to a white Scotchbrite pad and rub with moderate pressure, Let dry and buff. Several applications may be necessary to eliminate the discoloration. If pipes have been “cooked” for too long, color may be reduced but not eliminated. Refer to our product direction page for more info. Q. What can I do about corrosion on my mag wheels?

Q. What can I do about corrosion on my mag wheels?

A. First, try Miracle Metal Polish applied to a piece of 000 steel wool or a green Scotchbrite pad. Scrub with medium to hard pressure, let dry, and buff. Buffing cloth should turn black as residue is removed. Repeat procedure until buffing cloth does not turn black. Severely corroded wheels may require machine buffing with mild abrasives.

Q. How do I get rid of the white stains on my black engine paint and frame?

A. Apply BLACK OUT Engine Restorer, a Teflon-based gel, with a foam brush or detail cloth. Let dry for an hour. There is no need to buff unless liquid is beading-up on the surface. This is more likely to occur on smooth, shiny paint.

Q. How do I clean spots I can’t get my fingers into?

A. We use QUICK CLEAN Spray Cleaner on a Q-tip, or spray the area and wrap a detail cloth around our small detail brush, then reach in and clean the area. You can apply your BLACK OUT or wax using the same technique.

Q. My clear coat looks dull, what can I do?

A. Apply SCRATCH OUT to a clean detail cloth and use the palm of your hand and medium pressure to rub the area. Keep cloth wet with more SCRATCH OUT until finished. Work on a small area at a time. Allow compound to dry, then buff. Repeat until shine is restored, then coat with NuVIEW Custom Paint And Plastic Glaze and buff to achieve a brilliant shine.

Q. My billet aluminum has stains on it. Can I get rid of them?

A. Use METAL MAGIC Metal Polish applied to a clean detail cloth. For stubborn stains use a white Scotchbrite pad and apply with more pressure. Let surface dry to a haze and buff. Seal the surface with SPRAY SHINE Cleaner & Polish, or if hard to get to, such as cylinder fins, coat with BLACK OUT.

Q. How can I prevent my engine paint from chipping?

A. Apply BLACK OUT with a 1 inch foam brush to all the painted surfaces. On cylinder fins be sure to coat both sides as well as the leading edge. Re-apply every 1 ½ to 2 months to a clean engine to maintain the protection and luster of the paint.

Q. How can I maintain my bike while on a road trip?

A. Take along our CYCLE SACK Travel Kit. The kit contains a CYCLE DUSTER, QUICK CLEAN, SPRAY SHINE, SADDLE SOFT, NuView,  and some DETAIL CLOTHS. Refer to the product direction page for info on using these fine products.

Q. My plain steel spokes are dull and rough. How can I make them look better?

A. First, use Miracle Metal Polish applied to 00 or 000 steel wool. Rub with moderate pressure until steel wool slides easily over the spoke. Let compound dry for a few minutes, then buff --- cloth will turn black as oxidation is removed. Repeat until cloth does not pick up more black residue. If spokes are extremely corroded, apply BLACK OUT to give them a low luster and prevent further oxidation.

Q. The plastic trim in my fairing , tank panel, and controls looks dull and discolored. What can I do to restore the shine and color?

A. Rejuvenate your plastic and vinyl with BLACK OUT. This is a Teflon-based gel that is applied to a clean detail cloth and gently buffed into the affected surface. In about an hour you will see the surface return to its original finish. This product acts the way hand cream works on dry skin --- it reverses the effects of the sun and detergents. Be sure to re-apply BLACK OUT every 1 ½ to 2 months to maintain protection.

Q. How do I get melted boot off my exhaust pipes?

A. Begin by carefully removing as much material as possible with a clean, sharp razor blade lubricated with SPRAY SHINE detail polish. Next, apply some Miracle Metal Polish to a white Scotchbrite pad and rub with light pressure until surface feels smooth. Allow polish to dry to a haze, then buff. Repeat if necessary until all traces of boot black is gone. Finally, coat area with SPRAY SHINE and buff to a high shine.

Q. Can I remove the pitting from chrome?

A. Yes. Apply Miracle Metal Polish  to a blue or white Scotchbrite pad and polish with medium to hard pressure until surface feels smooth under the pad. Allow polish to dry to a haze, then buff. Remember, this procedure simply removes the rough spots and protects the existing chrome. Wherever there were pits, the chrome plating has been destroyed and cannot be restored without re-chroming.

Q. How do I keep my chrome and aluminum from corroding?

A. Keep you bike clean. Dirt holds moisture, and it’s the moisture which leads to corrosion. Polish your bike every 1 1/2 to 2 months to maintain protection. SPRAY SHINE is excellent for this. Wash your bike after every few rides, or more frequently if you’ve ridden over salt-coated or very dusty roads. Remember, dirt + moisture = corrosion.

Q. What is the meaning of life?

A. I bet you' think we don't know that answer, well, your wrong!! To give yourself meaning to your life, bike often and detail with....

Helpful Tips

Cleaning

Don't use paper towels or cloth that is rough in nature such as terry cloth. Both of these items will create surface scratches that will ruin the clarity of your windshield. Always use a soft cotton cloth such as our custom cotton detail cloths to clean or dry windshield.

Don't use cleaners that contain ammonia or harsh chemicals. These cleaners will haze the windshield and ruin their optical clarity. Always try to use cleaners that are alcohol based with a mild detergent. We recommend our Quick Clean product as a daily cleaner.

Protective Films

Coatings on motorcycle windshields serve two purposes; 1) they protect them, extending their life and; 2) they repel rain and insects. Don't use wax or quick detail products on windshields since they contain a solvent, usually kerosene, which after extended use will haze the plastic, giving it a yellow tint. Always use a polishing glaze formulated for plastics that will act as a wax without the harmful effects such as our Nu-View Custom Polishing Glaze.

Scratches

The most common problem with windshields are scratches and abrasions. Although there are many scratch removers on the market, most do not work. To remove hazing, scratches and imperfections you need to use a plastic polish formulated to cure this problem. A good polish will not only remove scratches and imperfections but will also leave a protective film behind. By using these polishes you also bring back the optical clarity of the windshield eliminating distortion and glare.

Storage

The better you look out for your windshield, the better it will look out for you. Always use care when working around the windshield. A good practice would be to remove it when work is required around it. Whenever the windshield is removed from the bike, it should be stored in a windshield bag.
